Welcome to the Monymusk Community

Why saving the Donview Centre is important to our area

The scenic landscape surrounding the historic village of Monymusk is dominated by the Bennachie hills, at the foot of which is the River Don. The river flows via Tilliefoure then into a more open landscape, passing Monymusk and on to the outskirts of the village of Kemnay.

This area has many environmental designations and the natural resources were important to the people that lived and worked here in the past. The ancient woodlands, the river and land provided them with a wealth of food and materials. During the 20th century forests were planted to provide an important timber resource and these now provide recreational opportunities for both locals and visitors. The local history and changing way of life is reflected in the archaeology, heritage designations and place names.

Sadly, many of the reminders that illustrate the changing culture in this area have either been lost, are deteriorating or under threat. The Donview Centre, the adjoining car park and picnic area are now under threat of being lost from public ownership. We believe that the best opportunity for our local community to influence the future of this important resource is to explore the option of a Community Asset Transfer (CAT).

Please read the CAT proposal and we need your help with this application by completing the online form.
